How do I get approval to place a bid?

It’s easy; all you have to do is meet with the clerk at the live auction and complete an informational form and you will be assigned a bid number. You use this bid number to place bids for items being sold. You can also complete the Absentee-Online bidder form located on our website and fax or email it to our offices and we will issue you a bid number.

How do I bid?

It’s easy; as the auctioneer is calling the bids for an item you simply indicate to the auctioneer or ring man that you are bidding on that item. You continue to bid on the item until the item is declared sold and you are the winning bidder, or you bid to the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item and you stop bidding at that point. The auctioneer will recognize that you are no longer bidding and will continue to take bids from other bidders until the item is declared sold and the highest bidder will be declared the winning bidder. If you are bidding on an Online auction instructions for bidding and placing bids will be provided at the time you register for the Online auction.

Can I revoke a bid that I have made?

You cannot; when you place a bid it is a binding contract and you are contractually obligated to purchase the item if you are declared the winning bidder. Always make sure you know what you are bidding on and the condition of the item meets your approval. Remember, when you bid it’s a contract to purchase unless you are outbid by another bidder.

What are “Terms and Condition”?

Terms and conditions refer to the Terms and Conditions in place that apply to the particular auction you are attending. The terms and conditions will be available to each bidder for their review at each Live On Site auction and will be a part of the registration process for an Online auction. It is always recommended that you read and understand the Terms and Conditions of each auction before you bid.

Can I inspect the items up for auction?

Absolutely; and we highly encourage you to carefully inspect each item you are interested in placing a bid on. A specific time will be allocated and announced that will tell you when a dedicated preview will take place and how long the preview will last and what day the preview will take place prior to the sale date. In addition, you can preview the contents of the auction prior to the beginning of the sale on the date the auction takes place. You are also free to inspect any item on the date of sale prior to it being auctioned. Each item is sold “AS IS”, “WHERE IS” without guarantees of any kind. It is your responsibility to make sure that the item meets your requirements before you bid. All sales are final and there are No Exceptions.

If there is more than one item in a lot am I bidding on all the items?

Never assume you are bidding on more than one item in a lot. The auctioneer will announce the lot and advise what is included in that lot. For example, if you see a curio cabinet with several pieces of lead crystal inside, do not assume you are bidding on the cabinet and the lead crystal inside. The auctioneer will announce which item is being sold. Almost always each item will sell separately unless the auctioneer announces otherwise.

What does “Times the Money” mean?

If the auctioneer announces that items are going to be sold “Times the Money” that means that you are going to pay the amount of money declared at the time the items are sold to the highest bidder. If you are the highest bidder you will pay for the items multiplied by the number of items in the lot. For example if there are four vintage oil lamps being sold in a lot “Times the Money” and the winning bid is $50.00 you will pay $50.00 per lamp times 4 for a total of $200.00.

What does “All One Money” mean?

When an auctioneer has more than one item (it may be several) and says “All One Money” it means that you are bidding on all of the items the auctioneer is referring to. All of it sells for one price (money).

What does “Lot” mean?

“Lot” refers to the item being sold or items being sold. For example a single bowl is called a “lot” or a bowl and a spoon could also be a “lot”. Pay particular attention to what the auctioneer has announced relative to the item or items being referred to as a “lot”.

What is a “Buyers Premium”?

A “Buyers Premium” is a specific percent of money added to the final selling price of an item. For example if the “Buyers Premium” is 10% and the item sold for $100.00 an amount of 10% or $10.00 would be added for a total of $110.00 as the final price.

What happens after I win a bid for an item?

Once you are declared the winning bidder of an item you are at that time under contract to purchase the item and you also become the owner of the item and responsible for it. All of the items that you have purchased must be paid for the day of the auction. Your bill must be paid prior to the removal of the items from the premises.

Do I have to wait until the end of the auction to pay my bill?

Absolutely not; within a short / reasonable amount of time after your last purchase the cashier will have the information needed to cash you out.

If I need help with loading, temporary storage or delivery will it be available?

Load out of your purchased items is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. We always encourage you to have ample help with you to help you load your purchases after the sale. If there is adequate staff available after the sale we will be happy to assist but we cannot guarantee that we will be in a position to help. We urge you to be sure to have available any packing supplies and equipment that you may need including, any tools you may need to dismantle items prior to loading. If you need temporary storage it can be arranged for a nominal fee and the fee will be dependent on the size and quantity of items needing to be stored. We will attempt to arrange delivery of your items but we recommend that you make arrangements prior to the auction.

Do I pay sales tax on the items I purchase?

Yes; you will always be responsible for paying the applicable sales tax. If you are “Tax Exempt“ you will be required to provide the cashier a copy of your tax exempt certificate prior to the final settlement of your bill.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We are happy to accept cash, personal checks, Visa, Master Card and American Express credit cards and bank debit cards.
